Love Billy Boy winning first time out at Musselburgh
The final winner of last month, Love Billy Boy, holds particular importance as this marks the 1500th win of Richard Hannon Jnr’s training career.
It all started in January 2014 when Unscripted won at Wolverhampton just three days after Richard took over the training license from his father.
It has been an incredible nine years since then and has made us all very nostalgic to look back on. Richard has had the honour of training the likes of Olympic Glory, Toronado, Tiggy Wiggy, Night Of Thunder, Mehmas, Pethers Moon, Barney Roy, Billesdon Brook, King Of Change, Snow Lantern, Happy Romance, Chindit, Oh This Is Us, Lusail, Armor, Persian Force, Trillium, Aristia, Ehraz and Mojo Star, to name a few.
Whilst we reflect on the last few years, it is also important that we take a look at the month just gone, which led to Richard achieving this significant career milestone.
The flat turf season of 2023 is well and truly under way now and even though April was quite unpredictable with the weather, it was an exciting and victorious month for the yard. We had nine winners, including Mammas Girl, taking home the Nell Gwyn Stakes (Group 3) at Newmarket, and Happy Romance, winning the Listed Lansdown Stakes at Bath.
We also had the joy of our two-year-olds having their first success on the track. Ziggy’s Phoenix was our first two-year-old winner of the year, followed by Dapper Valley and Love Billy Boy, who both won on debut.
Congratulations to all connections and the whole team at home for their hard work and dedication.
We cannot wait for the Guineas this weekend and for the sunshine to hopefully start sticking around.
