A big Wednesday headed by the first time Listed Victory for BILLESDON BESS and her jockey Hollie Doyle. The day started well with ROGUE taking out the second race on the card. The son of Epaulette was having his fourth start and his second since being gelded. ‘He was to the fore and looked much more professional today. I hope he can go on from here and I hope he won’t be put up too much in the handicap. He can head down the Nursery route and see from there.’ He was given a very positive ride from Ryan Moore and never looked like getting caught.
The Listed Upavon Stakes was later on in the afternoon and the yards representative went off at 6/1. The Pall Mall Partners owned Billesdon Bess was coming off the back of her Glorious Goodwood win and looked in fine fettle beforehand. Hollie always had her in a prominent position and she travelled well in running. She was short of room until the gap finally opened up with just over a furlong to go and she shot clear in convincing fashion. ‘Hollie gave her a lovely ride and I am so happy for both of them to gain this success. She is a nice filly who is improving every time and should have no trouble stepping up into Group Company. For Hollie this is great and she works so hard at home. Her riding has improved out of sight and she has given this an absolute peach. There are no plans yet as to where they will head but that will be discussed in detail in the coming weeks.’
Today’s action comes again from Salisbury today with COURTEOUS CROWN and TABARRAK heading to post. The later takes his chance in the Group 3 Sovereign Stakes and is heading there off the back of some fine efforts. ‘He has already proved himself in Listed Company and he should be there to run a big race. As long as the ground stays on the better side.’
