With the weather finally coming to a halt at Goodwood on the third day, the wind stayed strong but the rain held off. With just a handful of runners on Thursday it was great to get a one-two in the Telegraph Nursery over the seven furlongs. The winner was BILLESDON BROOK who having finished a good third last week in the Listed Star Stakes was well in at the weights by 9 pounds. He had no luck in running and only got space inside the final 100 yards. ‘She was so far back I thought she had no chance of catching the leader but she flew in the last half a furlong to get up by a head. She had no luck throughout but she must be a very good filly to do what she did. The plan will be to head back up to Listed and Group Company and so I will make a plan from here.’ CHEEKY RASCAL ran the race of his life to finish second and looked all out the winner until the final stride.
With just the one runner today at Goodwood with TONY CURTIS heading to post the team are confident he can back up his Newmarket run and go very close.
Tomorrows action comes from Goodwood, Newmarket, Doncaster, Vichy and Lingfield. BATSHEBA BAY and ROGUE in the Maiden take their chances at Goodwood. ‘Two nice colts, especially Bathsheba Bay who run very well at Sandown last time. He has drawn badly but I would expect a solid run from him. Rogue has now been gelded and hopefully this will put his mind on the job more.’ The other runner is MEDAHIM who was a last start winner at Newmarket. ‘He won impressively last time and appreciates being ridden patiently. He will need plenty of luck here but he is in great form and I would expect him to go very close.’
