Kool Kompany
Derby day is upon us and twelve months ago the team were heading there with HUMPHREY BOGART. The end result was very pleasing with a strong fifth having won the Lingfield Derby Trial on his previous start. Tomorrows edition will not see any Hannon representatives but it looks none the less a very competitive affair. Richard is heading there with three runners on the support card and two of those are taking on a small field in the Group 3 Diomed Stakes. OH THIS IS US and KOOL KOMPANY head to post with Pat Dobbs and James Doyle in the saddles respectively. Oh This Is Us is a horse who remains on the improve. ‘He won well in the Listed race last time at Haydock and we never quite know how good he is. He just gets there and every time we step him up in grade and seems to find some more improvement. He is a great horse to have in the yard and I expect a bold run from him at Epsom. Kool Kompany won well at Doncaster and just did a bit too much last time at Sandown on ground that was softer than ideal. He has been working well and if he settles he should run a big race.’
BRISTOL MISSILE is the in the first on the day and is stepping into handicap company for the first time. ‘He has been running well and off a light weight here I would hope for a big run. The track didn’t suit at Chester so if he gets around Epsom he could sneak a nice surprise.’
