With runners spread across four meetings on Saturday and some near misses it was EMBOUR who got his head in front at Lingfield to get the team on the board for the weekend.
Last time out EMBOUR was impressive in a Maiden at Salisbury and duly followed up this time in the Premier Benefits “Confined” Novice Stakes for connections Sullivan Bloodstock, Ruxley Holdings and Mrs Anna Doyle.
The son of Acclamation travelled beautifully throughout for Sean Levey before fighting off a late challenge to win by a neck from Taashabooh.
Elsewhere, YAFTA ran a thrilling race to be just denied by head in the closing stages in the Animal Health Trust Handicap. The son of Dark Angel has been consistent for owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum all season and once again stepped up after a 7lb rise and is a horse to watch for the remainder of the season.
TABARRAK also put in a very eye-catching performance to finish a gallant third in the Group Three John of Gaunt Stakes for owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum at Haydock. As a three-time Listed winner TABARRAK proved he is up to Group class and is a very exciting prospect.
Also, at Haydock AL BARG finished third beaten a mere neck in the Betway Handicap under Tom Marquand for connections Al Shaqab Racing. Ginger Nut also ran gamely to finish a close third in the Premier Pensions Fillies' Novice Median Auction Stakes at Lingfield on Saturday evening.
