GOOD LISTENER broke his maiden at the second time of asking at Windsor yesterday afternoon for owner Mrs Fitri Hay. Having run a good race behind more experienced competition on his debut at York we were anticipating a good show. Despite being slowly away and then racing a touch freely he took up the running a furlong out and went on to win comfortably by 1 1/4 lengths under Sean Levey.
This win brought up Mehmas' 38th individual two year old winner of the season which puts him at the top of the leader board for being the most successful European first season sire in history - ahead of Iffraaj with 37. It was very fitting that one of our two year olds thrust Mehmas into the lead given that we handled him in his stellar two year old career in 2016 when he won the July & Richmond Stakes and was runner-up in Coventry & National Stakes.
