Team Hannon always enjoys Goodwood and we have welcomed a lot of success there in recent years. Our first winner of the week was Dirty Rascal on Wednesday in the New & Lingwood Handicap ridden by Tom Marquand.
Unfortunately we drew a blank on Thursday with the promising Threat just touched off in the Richmond although he still looks a horse who will continue to thrive in Group company later in the season. Floating Artist also ran a good race to finish fourth in the Gordon Stakes and looks a type to improve the further he goes. It looks like the St Leger could be a tentative aim for him.
Friday was a terrific day with yard favourite and 1000 Guineas heroine Billesdon Brook getting up to win the Oak Tree Stakes with a good ride by regular jockey Sean Levey. This was Billesdon’s third win at the track and its important to pay tribute to her owners, Pall Mall Partners for keeping her in training this year.
Just over an hour later it was Beat Le Bon’s moment in the spotlight with a dominant performance in the Unibet Golden Mile. He’s progressed into a really exciting horse and will now be targeting Group races. With two more winners at other tracks, it was a productive day and one we will remember.
Away from Goodwood we were in Group 1 action back in France with Fox Champion who ran in the Prix Maurice De Gheest.
