Mayyasah
A weekend that was marred by the constant barrage of rain that hit Newbury throughout Friday night and Saturday. The team had a great across the card double on Friday at Newbury and Newmarket. The first of these came in the six furlong filly’s novice event where MAYYASAH was the impressive winner for Al Shaqab Racing. Sean got her some nice cover early on and managed to get her in a lovely rhythm. She relaxed well and when asked to quicken she did so impressively clearing away by two and a half lengths in the closing stages. ‘She has always been a nice filly. We just took our time with her and she has finally come right. She was green in the preliminaries but proved very professional once out on the track. There are plenty of options for her so I will give her an easy week before deciding where to head next.’ On the same day at Newbury NATURAL was having her first run back since Royal Ascot in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes. She was disappointing in the Albany but bounced right back to form running a solid second. ‘She is a filly we have thought of for a long time. She won impressively on debut and for some reason she didn’t fire at Ascot. She has come back here and run very well and will appreciate further in time. There are again plenty of options for her and I am glad she could get her first bit of black type.’
The other winner came from Newmarket and brought up the one two in the race. TAFAAKHOR was an impressive winner for Hamdan Al Maktoum under Dane O’Neill. STERLING SILVA stuck on nicely for second and ran very well after a break. ‘I was happy with both horses. Tafaakhor has shown his ability here and won impressively. He has always had potential and this looks his ideal trip. Sterling Silva was having his first run for a while having been gelded and has run very well. He will come on plenty for the run and should be right there next time.’
Saturday’s racing was on soft ground and not many horses were suited by conditions. OLIVER REED was having his second start and improved plenty for his experience to run second. ‘He is a nice horse and should be right there next time. He just got tired on the ground.’ A debutant at Haydock made an encouraging start. AL BARG finished a nice second upsides two winners. ‘He will come on plenty for this experience and should be very competitive next time.’
Today’s racing comes from Windsor and we have two chances in FUSION CENTRAL and FAST AND HOT. ‘Fusion Central will need the run a bit having had some time off. Fast And Hot will love the ground there this evening and should be right there on the line.’
