After a busy weekend of runners and some close finishes PEPITA put in a career best performance to win the Listed Stobo Castle Ladies’ Day Gold Cup Fillies’ Stakes at Musselburgh on Saturday.
The daughter of Sir Prancealot travelled beautifully throughout under Phillip Makin before taking the lead in the final furlong. She stayed on very strongly for her third career victory and gained all important black type for connections Rockcliffe Stud.
PEPITA also supplied jockey Phillip Makin with his first victory for the Richard Hannon team who stated after the race “I thought Pepita was a picture in the paddock - easily the best looker and the race was quite straightforward really. It's great that she's got some black type and put some value on herself with this win.”
ANNA NERIUM also caught the eye over the weekend when running a gallant second in the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom while FOX CHAMPION also impressed on debut when just getting beat a short head at Doncaster and looks to be an exciting prospect for the future.
