A whole year of planning and waiting for a great week of racing finally arrived as we kicked off Royal Ascot 2022.
Some of our big guns were out in force on the opening day, starting with Chindit who ran a super race in finishing fourth in one of the hottest Queen Anne’s run at Royal Ascot to date. This was followed by Persian Force, who ran a fantastic race to finish second in the Coventry Stakes (the best two year old run this year) Lusail ran a very creditable race and was unlucky to be beaten by a nose in the St James’s Palace Stakes. We rounded off the day with Aristia and even though she finished ninth, she was bang there two furlongs out and ran a brilliant race.
Miami Girl who was running on fifth in the Queen Mary on Wednesday, showed she is a winner in waiting with a step up in trip.
On Thursday we had the star of the show, Mojo Star, who ran a mighty race finishing second in the Gold Cup, beaten by a hot pot of Aidan O’Brien’s and beating Stradivarius into third. Considering this was his first run of the year, having finished second in two English Classics last year, he ran his heart out and can only improve again from this.
Ehraz ran a good race on Friday, drawn out on the wing in the Commonwealth Cup. The big moment for us was Heredia, bred and owned by St Albans Bloodstock, showed us all the potential she has shown all season by winning the Sandringham Stakes and remaining unbeaten in all her four starts
Saturday was a low key affair and although Happy Romance only finished seventh in the Platinum Jubilee, she was only beaten by two lengths in one of the hottest 6f Group 1’s of the year with runners from all over the world.
