The final day of Newmarket’s Craven meeting led to Richard's 800th winner yesterday in the Novice event over a mile and a quarter. The son of Le Havre having just his second lifetime start was sent forward by Sean Levey. STAR OF SOUTHWOLD was easy to back at 25/1 but through the race he never looked like he was in too much trouble. He powered out of the dip and put the race to bed in decisive fashion. ‘He ran well on debut at Kempton and he was entitled to come on for the experience. He had worked nicely before hand and I thought he was there with a place chance. Being a Newmarket Novice you never really know what will turn up. He was impressive in the end and so we will need to take him home and make a plan going forward.’
Today's action comes from Newbury with WELL DONE FOX leading the way. The son of Acclamation is having his first ever start in the two year old event. ‘He has worked nicely at home and I am confident that he can run a big race. The ground will be on the sticky side and that will be the main factor if he handles it.’ Other runners include last start winner QAYSAR who runs in the three year old handicap. TIGRE DU TERRE is in the Conditions event and ran very well last time. There are some solid chances all day so we sre hoping for another successful day at the office.
