With the horses due back today from Dubai, we reflect on what was a successful Carnival and also Richards’s first winner over there. The stats on the whole read well with half the runners finishing in the top four culminating in OH THIS IS US’s victory in a seven furlong handicap under Tom Marquand. ‘He is a horse we have had a lot of fun with over the years and so I was very happy for both the owners and Tom to gain their first victory at Meydan. He is a horse that keeps on raising the bar and even though he ran third on his last start he was drawn the outside and was catching the leaders all the way up to the line. I will consider his options when he gets back here but he is still in the Lincoln and as long as the ground is not too soft he will most probably head in that direction.’
KHAFOO SHEMEMI was unlucky not to win his second start where he probably got going a little too soon and got caught on the line. He ran well on all three starts and is a horse who should be very competitive in some big handicaps when he gets back. ‘I will also assess his options but we will look at Doncaster and beyond and see what looks to suit.’
After an incredible year for TUPI last year finishing with a Group 1 Placing he ran two very respectable races early on. ‘He did find the ground looser than ideal as he really does need it like the road. He has run well and again he will now come back to England and depending on the ground at Doncaster might make an appearance in the Cammidge Trophy.’
