TOORMORE grinds out a tough victory in the Sandown Mile under a strong ride from William Buick. The Godolphin owned son of Arakan took a sit in behind the second string of Roger Varians travelling along at a strong pace. Turning for home, he gradually wound things up with Dutch Connection getting on his outside. The aforementioned got his head in front only for Toormore to grind him down late on and hold him up to the line. ‘We love this horse, he has taken us to some great places and keeps trying his heart out. I always thought he would come on from whatever he does today, so for him to actually win under a three pound penalty is a real credit to the horse. Obviously we will now be heading to the Lockinge where he ran a game second last year. After that we can look at Ascot and Goodwood. It’s been a real team effort to get him here today, and I am just so happy to win this race for Godolphin’ said Richard after the race.
