Two Year Olds
With another stellar bunch of two year olds we are very excited as the new flat season approaches. With just under eight weeks to go until the Brocklesbury, the opening two year old race of the season, Gutaifan has some very sharp looking progeny that could give us our first runner in the race since 2014. A son of Dark Angel, Gutaifan was a very tough and genuine horse. He ran seven times for us as a juvenile winning four of those including the Prix Robert Papin Group 2 over five and a half furlongs and the Flying Childers Stakes Group 2 over five furlongs at Doncaster on his penultimate start. He was a very close second in the Prix Morny Group 1 in testing conditions behind Shalaa who went on to win the Middle Park. Although many of Gutaifan’s progeny look sharp and early types there is stamina on his dams side and his progeny are strong individuals that should take their racing well.
Free Eagle is another to have his first runners on the track this year and it would be no surprise to see his fee of €12,500 jump up next year if our two colts and one filly are anything to go on. Smashing looking animals, as he is, they have a good temperament to go with their physical.
Kodiac was the leading sire of two year olds by both numbers and earnings in 2018 and we are lucky to have some very nice two year olds by him including a couple of very good looking fillies. Zoffany has his most expensively bred crop to date in 2019 and we have some really nice types to look forward to.
