Tiggy Wiggy, 2014 Super Sprint winner
As we lead up to the 32nd running of the famous Weatherbys Super Sprint, we look forward to our seven runners taking part and we are hopeful that they will all do themselves justice.
Our record in this race is second to none, with the likes of "pocket rocket" Lyric Fantasy (1992), Tiggy Wiggy (2014) and Happy Romance (2020) all winning this race and we are excited at the prospect of adding our twelfth winner to the role of honour.
This race dates back to 1991, when it was founded by Richard Hannon Snr and the late Lord Carnarvon. This race specifically targets horses priced at the lower end of the market and has been a popular target for these types of horses ever since.
We take a look at this year's contenders:
The Camden Colt (William Buick) – We are dropping him back in trip and putting a set of blinkers on. He is a very decent colt, though the trip might be a little short, but it’s worth having a go for this sort of prize money.
Mr Baloo (Sam Hitchcott) - He ran a very good race at Ascot over 6f. He has got the speed for 5f and will hopefully bag himself some prize money.
Ziggy's Phoenix (Jim Crowley) - She won the Lily Agnes over 5f. She is quick and deserves her chance.
La Guarida (Kevin Stott) – She won very well at Goodwood on her second run. She is a fast filly who would have a solid each way chance.
Liv My Life (Pat Dobbs) – She is a fast filly who has been running over this trip and won around Chester. She is the ideal type for this sort of race.
Dapperling (Sean Levey) – She has run her races very well this season and has physically come on over the last month.
Jolly Sailor (Tom Greatrex) – He is lightly raced and deserves to take his chance with the others.
