Xanthe Winning at Ascot Saturday
Saturday saw another 2 winners in the bag for the team during another busy weekend of racing, as well as some good placings such as Great Bedwyn and Graham.
The first winner of the day came in the form of Aramram at Nottingham in a 6 furlong Novice Stakes. He jumped from the gates well and took the lead early in the race, where he stayed throughout going away strongly to the line to win readily by 6 lengths under Sam Hitchott. This was a great second run from him, showing the class we knew he had last season. Hopefully it will be onwards and upwards from him throughout the season ahead.
The second winner of the day was Xanthe, a first time out 2 year old owned by Julie Wood. She jumped very sharply from the gates and was quickly into stride. Pat had her in a nice prominent position throughout the race and she kicked on well inside the final furlong when Pat asked, staying on well to the line a battling gamely to get her nose in front. This was a great first run from her, showing a nice turn of foot and good attitude, and there should be plenty more to come from this filly.
Looking ahead to the week, we have some nice 2 year old runners in the form of Miss Collada tonight at Wolverhampton, who goes off as a worthy favourite on the back of her 2 starts which she has definitely improved for, as well as Cayman Tai who goes to Chepstow tomorrow who looks to be a nice type. Further on in the week we have York to look forward to, where Shouldvebeenaring goes for the Group 2 Duke Of York.
