Three more runners at York for Richard on the second day of the Ebor Festival
York
2:25 Goffs Yearling Stakes
Mums Tipple (Ryan Moore)
We weren’t surprised he made a winning debut at Ascot last month as he’d be showing plenty of ability at home and I gave a good word for him when the guys from Unibet came and did some filming before he ran, so I hope you were all on at 5/1! The form of that race has worked out very well as the fourth and fifth have both come out and won so there’s a strong look to it and I think he’s improved a lot mentally and physically for that first run. These big sales races are always hard to win but this colt is very smart and I’m hopeful of a bold show.
Cheat (Oisin Murphy)
There is no doubt he has to improve on what he’s shown so far but his latest run was definitely a step in the right direction and any give in the ground will probably help his chances. There’s prize money right the way down to tenth place so hopefully he can pick up some place cash.
3:00 Handicap
Qaysar (James Doyle)
His new handicap mark has kicked in so he’s off a career high of 100 which obviously makes things a little harder but he’s in the form of his life and I think a mile around York will really play to his strengths as he’s a very strong traveller and there’s likely to be plenty of pace on here. We’ve kept James on board as he clearly gets on with him and, in his current form, I can’t see any reason why he won’t be bang there.
