Mum’s Tipple (Ryan Moore)
He seems pretty effective over six or seven furlongs so we’re dropping back in trip after his excellent effort at Kempton last time, and I think a fast run six will really suit him. He’s rated marginally lower on turf and will like the ground.
Wallop (Rossa Ryan)
He is entitled to come on for his first run back (after a year off) and he’s a colt we’ve always liked. This is obviously very competitive but he’s unexposed and hopefully still has a good few days ahead of him.
3:35 G1 Qipco 2000 Guineas
Rosallion (Sean Levey)
This is obviously a very big day for him, and all of us to be honest, but we decided quite early not to give him a prep race so he’s been away plenty to gallop and his work has been excellent. I’ve been asked to compare him with the likes of Canford Cliffs, Night Of Thunder and Toronado etc, but they didn’t win a Group One at two, so you could say he’s already ahead of them! But of course he has a long way to go yet. There is a bit of rain forecast, which is a concern, and I’ll be walking the track on Saturday anyway, but as long as it’s good, he’ll take his chance. The form of his Ascot and Longchamp victories have been well advertised so he comes into the Guineas with a serious chance. In a normal year he’d most likely be favourite, but if City Of Troy has trained on, he could be very hard to beat.
Haatem (James Doyle)
He does a lot of work with Rosallion but they are two completely different horses; this colt is always more workmanlike and does just what he needs to at home, which is fine, because he comes alive on the track, and I was delighted with his win in the Craven, which is always a good race. He’s been in great shape since Newmarket and is a very tough colt who, we know, stays the trip. James Doyle, who rode Barney Roy to finish second for us a few years ago, is a top class jockey and if he’s still 25/1, or bigger, with Unibet, I wouldn’t put anybody off having a few quid each way.
4:45
Dapper Valley (Ryan Moore)
He put up a great effort over course and distance last time but just got tired in the closing stages. Obviously he will have improved for the run and the ground won’t be an issue at all so he comes into this with a rock solid chance under Ryan Moore.
5:15
Christian David (Ryan Moore)
He’s a nice colt with a lovely attitude and was unlucky not to win at Newbury last month when losing out in a tight finish. Hopefully there will be plenty of pace on because he’s quite a freegoing lad who likes to get on with things and he is certainly entitled to be on the premises.
Love Billy Boy (Sean Levey)
He was a decent two-year-old, albeit quite expensive to follow, but he’s got plenty of ability and has come on a lot for his first run of the season. The handicapper has given him back a couple of pounds and he is looking much better in his coat, so isn’t out of it on his best form.
