Across The Card Treble

Mon 18 June 2018

After a busy weekend of runners, it turned out to be fruitful with three winners across the cards on Saturday and Sunday.

RUM RUNNER got proceedings off to a good start at Sandown on Saturday in the Randox Handicap. Back to the scene of his last victory he travelled well throughout under Pat Dobbs to win decisively by one and a quarter lengths for owner Michael Geoghegan. He looks to be going from strength to strength and is an exciting horse for connections.

WICKED SEA gained a well-earned victory for owners Chris Munro and Anthony Randle on Sunday at Sailsbury. After a near miss during the week over seven furlongs at the same venue she appreciated the step up to a mile.

Ridden confidently by apprentice Seamus Cronin she always looked in control of the race. She drew readily clear by six lengths in the final furlong to confirm herself as an improving filly for the yard.

FLYING NORTH defied a 6lb rise in the weights to win for the second consecutive time on Sunday at Doncaster. Ridden by Hollie Doyle it was déjà vu she dominated from the front throughout to win by a length for her third career victory.

Owned by Peter Tellwright she has been a consistent filly throughout her career and seems to be still on the rise.

On Friday BALATA BAY won impressively at Chepstow on his second start for owner John Shannon. Having run well on debut he took a further step up on that experience to win well under apprentice Rossa Ryan.

The son of Kyllachy seems to be a nice prospect and is one to watch for the future.

Other runners of note from the weekend was the Middleham Park Racing owned MAGICAL WISH who came within a short head of winning on debut at Salisbury and WAFEER who was just touched off over six furlongs at Leicester on Saturday.
