Barney Set For Coral-Eclipse

Fri 07 July 2017

A big day for the yard tomorrow at Sandown as BARNEY ROY takes his chance in the Coral-Eclipse. He won nicely last time at Royal Ascot in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes. 'The Guineas as we know didn't go to plan but he still ran very well. He is a very good horse and proved it last time at Ascot. He put up a classy performance and will no doubt come on again for the experience. He is still very lightly raced so the more racing he gets the better. I have always wanted to step him up to this sort of trip and again as he showed last time he only hit top gear in the final furlong. This is a competitive renewal of this race but I can see him loving that hill and really stretching up to the line.' He is currently second favourite but with a good record of three year olds he should be right there at the end.

GEORGE WILLIAM also takes his chance in the Coral Challenge Handicap. 'He drew the wrong side at Ascot but still managed to get his head in front after the line. This should suit ideally and he appears in great form. He should run very well and hopefully there will be plenty of speed.'

A nice winner came yesterday at Epsom in the shape of SALLAB under Timmy Murphy. 'He is a lovely colt owned by Al Shaqab Racing and has come on plenty from his first run. He will improve again off this effort and will have no trouble winning more races.'

Today's racing comes from Haydock, Doncaster, Chelmsford and Sandown. Some likely contenders all over the country.
