Another big handicap for BEAT LE BON at Haydock came on the nod but in impressive fashion. The son of Wottoon Bassett was taken back from the gate to sit last in the early part of the race. They went a frantic gallop from the off and he travelled sweetly for a long way. In the home straight he had a lot of ground to make up but managed to time his run to perfection getting his nose in front on the line. ‘He is a colt we have always loved and he looks to still be improving. He will probably head to Goodwood now where I expect there will be plenty of pace and he has won there before. He has plenty of size and scope and should be able to keep going even into next year.’
The double on the day was cemented by CORNCRAKE who extended his winning streak to two with an impressive victory at Nottingham under Rossa Ryan. He was always travelling well and into the straight came there with a strong challenge. He went away to win with plenty in hand and looks very progressive. ‘He has suddenly got the hang of things and is a horse that appreciates a trip. He will continue to improve and should go very close again next time.’
FOX CHAMPION ran a big race at Deauville on Sunday in the Group 1 Jean Prat. He is a proper colt and looks to continue on the improve. ‘I like this hose a lot and this trip suited perfectly. He was there for a long way and managed to maintain his effort down to the line. He could head to Goodwood as well but he has a few options going forward.’
Todays action comes from Windsor with two runners. The progressive WEDDING DATE takes her chance in the sprint.
