Debut Success For The Grape Escape

Sat 10 September 2016

A very promising debut was made by THE GRAPE ESCAPE who won well at Sandown under a great ride from Pat Dobbs. In the Mile Maiden, he jumped well into the bridle and travelled easily in behind the leaders. Rounding the bend for home he still travelled sweetly on the bridle and was only let down late on to reel in the eventual second placed horse. 'He has been a horse we have always liked and he couldn't have done it any easier. He was green when he hit the front but up until then he had done it all so easily. He will come on a lot for that run and I am very happy for John Manley who bred this son of Arakan. I will give him one or two more runs this year before putting him away for next year.'

With another days action from Doncaster, MAJESTE takes his chance in the opener. The Group Two Champagne Stakes, with only a small field looks the ideal race for him to take his chance. 'He won well at Newbury and will appreciate this step up to seven furlongs. I expect a big run from the son of Acclamation who will love this better ground.' TOORMORE is in Park Stakes where he should run a nice race. 'The rain doesn't look like its come so he wouldn't want the ground too quick. He is in great form but he will be better in the autumn. VENTURA STORM is another who appreciates softer ground but he should like the trip and am I hopeful he can run a place.'
