Kevin Mason and Richard Plotting The Course For The Two Year Olds
With the first two year old from Richard Hannon’s yard making her debut yesterday at Kempton, the turf season is just around the corner. Ripon kicks off tomorrow with the first meeting back on grass, but Doncaster next weekend is where the action starts to hot up.
Bought at Doncaster by Peter and Ross Doyle for £24,000, owned by Chris Giles, STORMY CLOUDS looks set to have a good career ahead of her. By Sir Prancealot out of Singingintherain, she comes from the family of Where Or When (QE II winner), her dam is a half-sister to Danehill Destiny (By Danehill Dancer) who was herself a precocious two year old, winning her first two starts and going onto win the Sandy Lane (Listed over 6f) and also be placed in the Fred Darling.
Mark Johnston sent a couple of smart fillies both by Helmet, that looked to know their jobs inside out. STORMY CLOUDS ran a nice race on debut, finishing second even though she ran very green. Richard said after the race ‘She is a neat filly who will improve a lot for the run. We haven’t done a huge amount with her at home, so for her to run as well as she did is a good sign of things to come. There are some nice options for her when the turf comes around’.
