Kreb's Cycle wins under Gary Mahon
Leicester evening meeting passed the inspection after plenty of rain hit the track. KREBS CYCLE son of the Australian stallion Helmet was the sole representative of Richard Hannon and he duly obliged in the Novice Stakes over six furlongs under a fine front running ride from our own apprentice Gary Mahon. ‘He was ready nice and early in the season hence why he has had so many runs, however he deals well with the work and seems to thrive off racing. He is a nice horse to head down the nursery route with now.’
Whilst things are a little less hectic this week, there are still plenty of runners over the next few days. Salisbury today sees BUSKIN RIVER and GENEVA CONVENTION take their places in the seven furlong Maiden Stakes. ‘They are two nice colts. Buskin River has had the benefit of experience getting tired late on at Haydock in a hot Novice Stakes and he should improve plenty for the step up to seven. Geneva Convention is a son of Clodovil who should love the ground and has been working well at home. He will improve plenty for the day out.’ GROUPIE is a filly who has stuck her neck out twice only getting denied late on in her last start. ‘She is game as they come and hoping she gets through the ground I could see her running a very nice race.’ HAIL CLODIUS is another son of Clodovil who should absolutely love the ground and can run a race at a price today. ‘I am also running PALAWAN who was too keen in the Brittania at Ascot. He pulled up great, so I have applied a cross over noseband to help settle him. However Godolphins looks half decent and could potentially be very well handicapped.’
Bath and Kempton are where there are a few two year olds stepping out. ‘EXPRESS and LEXINGTON SKY are at Bath. The former is having her first start and should improve plenty on this experience, where as the other filly has got her head in front and won well at Lingfield. Hopefully she can run well with the penalty.’ At Kempton RITAS MAN is making his debut and PREROGATIVE having had two starts is looking to get the job done. ‘They are two nice horses but Prerogative will be hard to beat off his last start third at Leicester.’
