Raging (pink cap)
Our two year old crop continue to run really well and we enjoyed a double up at Haydock on Thursday.
TACARIB BAY was making his debut in the six furlong Maiden under Thore Hammer Hansen, despite his inexperience he showed a very professional attitude and went on to top by a comfortable length. This son of Night of Thunder certainly looks one to keep an eye on - congratulations to his owner J R Shannon.
RAGING brought up the double for the team and jockey Thore Hammer Hansen when scoring in the five furlong Novice. This was his third start and he put his experience to good use to overcome the even money favourite and win by half a length. Congratulations to the Six 'O' One syndicate and connections.
We have another busy Saturday with 15 runners across 5 meetings, check out my Unibet blog below to see who I fancy:
HAYDOCK
1:15
Mark Of Gold
He could be a touch high in the handicap but I’m putting his recent run at York down to him badly needing it and if he is back on his A game he’d have a solid chance with that first outing under his belt.
4:40
Riffaa Wonder
I think he wants seven furlongs nowadays but I’m not convinced he wants it on the ground as soft as it’s likely to be here so I’ll be keeping a watching brief on the weather because he won’t take his chance if it’s very testing.
BEVERLEY
2:00
Kodias Sangarius
She’s a very nice filly but for whatever reason didn’t go yard at Nottingham on her debut. But she is much better than that and hopefully the soft ground will see her in a much better light. Obviously you couldn’t back her off the back of that first run but she’s certainly got ability.
2:35
Fox Power
Both his wins have been on the All Weather so whether he’s going to like a mile on heavy ground at Beverley I’m not too sure but he’s coming down to a nice mark on the turf and ran very well at Newmarket last time which was on softish ground so he might be ok.
3:10
Robjon
To be honest I think he handled the ground well enough at York last time and run a great race carrying a penalty for his win at Brighton. The drop back down to five furlongs won’t be a problem and while this is a wide open race I think he goes there with a great chance. He’s a nice colt and if we are going to look at Ascot he’d have to be going close here.
4:20
Big Wing
He’s not the quickest so if stamina comes into play that’ll really suit and he arrives here in good form at home. This is his first run on turf and while he is the outsider I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go well.
Mafia Power
He ran a good race at Windsor last time and a reproduction of that effort would see him in with a decent chance here. Thore’s claim is a big help and he’s not out of it by any means.
CHESTER
4:25
Al Shibli
He ran exactly as we thought on debut at Newbury when needing the experience but stayed on really nicely to finish third. That will have done him the world of good so I’m pretty confident he can go a few places better and get off the mark. He’s our best chance of the day.
Magic Warrior
He’s ran okay on both starts but will be much better once getting a mark and then we can find a nice little handicap for him.
5:00
Remedium
He ran very well at Windsor last time and proved he liked ground like this and I think he’s very interesting off this handicap mark. Stall one is absolutely ideal and he has a right chance.
CATTERICK
4:50
Victorious Knight
He was unlucky not to win at Carlisle last time when he came from an uncompromising position to finish well over this trip. The Godolphin horse is probably the one to catch but ours has good enough form to suggest he can go very close.
5:25
Lexington Liberty
I think the step down to six furlongs will be a help and she handled the ground at Carlisle last time so there aren’t any worries on that score and she should be more effective out of Handicap Company and against her own sex
SALISBURY
5:40
Bosh
He’s from a very nice family who has done everything right at home and is a very nice colt. Salisbury Novices are always decent races but he’s a decent horse so should go very well.
7:15
Escape
He ran well on both starts as a two-year-old and we’ve had him gelded over the winter. His work has been very good and this looks an ideal starting point. I fancy him to go nicely.
Ower Starlight
He proved he handled soft ground at Lingfield last time but just got tired over the trip so the step down to six furlongs should be a big help and, on his latest run, he’s not out of it under Kath Begley who knows him well and is decent value for her 5lbs claim.
