The son of first season sire Elzaam won very convincingly on his second start for the yard at Wolverhampton on Friday night. MUSTARRID was the five length winner of the maiden over seven furlongs and didn’t for one stage of the race look like getting beat. Timmy settled him towards the fore and when the gap opened up on the rail he was quick to assert his authority on the rest of the field. ‘He may not have beaten much but I always knew he would show the necessary improvement from his first run and will be a horse to have some fun with next year. He does everything nice and easily at home but I won’t be getting too carried away yet.’
Yearling preparations are coming along nicely at the yard where the majority of horses are now in the stable readying for next season. Middleham Park had their open day last Saturday which was a success and a good crowd of owners turned up to the see their charges. Apart from the cold mornings spirits are high in the camp and we very much look forward to next year’s turf season. In the meantime, there will be horses prepared for the all weather championships in March and also a potential team of horses for Dubai during their winter carnival. Overall things are hotting up nicely in those departments.
