OH THIS IS US BRINGS UP THE PERFECT 12

Tue 23 April 2019

A very successful weekend had by the team over the Easter highlighted by the success of stable star OH THIS IS US in the All Weather Championships Final. With a double on both Friday and Saturday the team continue what has been a bright start to the season with some promising sorts already been let out. The weekend before at Newbury saw URBAN ICON and STAR TERMS put their classic chances to the test and both came through with great credentials. ‘They are two nice horses and on that ground they were both in need of the run. I think going to Newmarket in two weeks time should see them straight and I am hopeful of a couple of big runs. With Too Darn Hot out of the field it has opened up the Guineas market considerably.’

FOX CHAMPION continues to improve and won with plenty in hand at the Craven meeting. ‘He is a horse we have always liked and I feel he will get better. There is a nice race back at Newmarket called the King Charles 2nd Listed event back over the same trip where he should be very competitive.’

Good Friday proved lucrative for the team with OH THIS IS US taking the Mile Final under a strong ride from Tom Marquand and also FOX POWER taking the Listed Burradon Stakes under Silvestre De Sousa. ‘Oh This Is Us has always been a yard favourite and this was his 12th victory for us. He continues to bring his A game to the big days and we can always rely on him to get the job done. There are plenty of options open to him again this year. Fox Power won nicely up at Newcastle and looks a promising sort for the year. He has improved plenty over the winter and so we can start making bigger plans for him now.’

Saturday saw an across the card double again with TEMPLE OF HEAVEN winning at Nottingham and handing us the first two year old winner of the year. The son of Iffraaj despite showing signs of greenness managed to get his head in front. ‘He is a nice colt and will improve plenty for the experience. Where we go now we haven’t discussed but he will either have to carry a penalty or we step up in class.’ The other winner was EMBOUR at Kempton under martin Dwyer. He travelled sweetly throughout and managed to fend off all challengers in the closing stages to win by a nose. ‘He has been in such good form at home I was confident he would run a big race. This looked the ideal place to start his season and so it proved.’

Todays racing comes from Lingfield where we have two runners. CLUBORA is having her first start in handicaps and would have to be the pick of the two.
