Oh This Is Us wins at Ascot (Center)
He may not be the most talented horse to have walked through the gates at Richard Hannon Racing but OH THIS IS US has got to be one of our absolute favourites from over the years. At eight years old after six years busy racing, he really doesn't owe anyone anything and seeing as he went off at 66/1 in the Listed Queen Anne Trial Stakes at Ascot on Wednesday, nobody seemed to expect much more from him. How wrong they were!
OTIS as he is referred to at home simply loves racing, he absolutely thrives off it and reunited with his favourite race jockey Tom Marquand, he put up nearly a career best performance to cause a massive upset in the Paradise stakes. He went into the race in cracking form - his work at home really sparkling and his coat could only be described as golden, so we were anticipating a good run. Into the later stages of the race it looked for all the world that he had run a super race to finish in the frame, but Tom galvanised something extra and the honest warrior that OTIS is, somehow found a bit more. He is all heart - what a legend. An incredible 16th career win!
As they say, form is temporary, class is permanent.
Take a bow OTIS.
