ROYAL ASCOT – WEDNESDAY
3:40 G2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes
Posted (William Buick)
She’s a very good filly but can be a little bit keen which is often her undoing because she can throw her race away in the preliminaries. We decided to avoid Epsom due to the soft ground because we knew we always had Royal Ascot to come back to and to be honest I think this looks a very good race for her. She’s in good nick, has already won a Listed race and goes there with a very realistic chance.

Beat Le Bon (Hollie Doyle)
I was very pleased with his run back in a Handicap at Doncaster last time when he started slowly but finished fast in his customary style which when he’s at his very best. The Handicapper put him up another 2lbs but he’s off the same mark here because it’s an early closer so you never know he could be well treated!
There was always going to be a time when he’d come back and start running well again and hopefully his run at Doncaster shows that he’s right back at the top of his game. He’s quite a quirky horse but if things go his way, which is obviously very difficult in a race like this where they will be spread out all over the course, but he is extremely talented and could put up a bold show at what are probably going to be decent odds with Unibet.
Ouzo (Sean Levey)
We always thought a great deal of him and he’s been in really good form over at Everleigh. He also has a bit of a mind on him but he’s a very good horse on his day and I was particularly pleased with the piece of work he did when we took him to Newbury two weeks ago which sweetened him up nicely because he just went around and enjoyed himself and wasn’t asked any serious questions which will have done him the world of good. For some reason he didn’t run his race last time at York after running very well in the Unibet Lincoln so we scoped him afterwards but couldn’t find anything so we’re putting it down to an off day because he sat last and never even looked like winning. I’m not going to sit here and tell you he will win the Hunt Cup but he possesses a lot of ability and it wouldn’t be the biggest shock in the world to see him run a big race.
5:35 Listed Windsor Castle Stakes
Armor (Pat Dobbs)
He worked very well on his final gallop last week and is a horse I really, really like. Ryan Moore got off him after winning at Doncaster and absolutely loved him, so we were going to run in the Lily Agnes at Chester next but he was a little bit sore after being re shod so we decided not to risk him and it might be a blessing in disguise. We were looking at the Norfolk but this looks the best option and he’s a very good, speedy two-year-old.
