He might well have won last time, but met traffic in running, and was slightly unlucky. This track suits and the ground will be fine, but the Handicapper isn’t taking any chances and has him just where he wants. He’s not the most trustworthy but has plenty of ability.

I don’t think he stayed a mile and a half last time, so the drop back in trip will hopefully help, and we know he handles decent ground. He’s not done much at home since Ascot and comes here with a right chance.

He’s run with great promise on all three starts and steps into a Nursery for the first time. A mark of 75 looks do-able and I can’t see why he won’t be on the premises.

Talis Evolvere (Rossa Ryan)
He’s dropping back to seven (furlongs) but that won’t be an issue because Rossa will make plenty of use of him and it’s a long straight at Haydock. I was delighted with his run in the Hunt Cup and the Handicapper has dropped him a pound.

Franny Norton gave him a great ride to win at Chester last time where he seemed to need every yard of the trip on a track like that, so this more testing course will suit, and this is a small drop down in grade.

She’s very consistent and while her mark is still 78, she’s won off only 3lbs lower so should be competitive in a race like this and she acts best on quick ground, which it’s likely to be up there.

She’s been quite disappointing so far and needs to step up considerably to prove a viable betting proposition. That said, she didn’t run too badly at Nottingham last time and this is a step down in class.

I was pleased with his Handicap debut at Windsor on Monday and he’s a hardy little horse who will have no problem backing up again and I think he’ll be very competitive.
