SANDOWN
1:30
Mafnood (Jim Crowley)
He’s posted two solid efforts this season, but I think the blinkers might just eek out a little bit extra, and this trip should suit well on a track like this. The ground won’t be a problem and he has a decent chance.
2:05
Classic (Pat Dobbs)
He never landed a blow on his first run back when he was quite keen and blew up, but that will have sharpened him up nicely and he’ll strip much fitter here. He’s won at the track before, over seven furlongs, but a mile is absolutely fine and if he puts his best foot forward, he shouldn’t be ignored.
3:15
Star Style (Pat Dobbs)
It was worth a shot to run in the Guineas, but she did too much early on and ultimately paid the price. This is obviously a significant drop down in grade, and it will be interesting to see how competitive she can be off her mark (86).
4:25
Ziggy’s Phoenix (Sean Levey)
She’s a very tough and consistent filly who has been in good shape this season and won on her only start at a mile. The Handicapper isn’t taking any chances, but this is her grade and hopefully she can go well.
YORK
3:35
The Coffee Pod (Mia Nicholls)
He was a pretty smart two-year-old but hasn’t really set the world alight this season; that said, his work has been good and he won his Novice over course and distance last year. Mia’s 5lbs claim brings him down to a decent mark and the ground will be fine.
CHESTER
1:35
Thecoffeepoddotco (Richard Kingscote)
She’s produced two very good efforts to date and is a filly with plenty of speed, so the drop back to six is a big plus and she’s drawn well in three. I wouldn’t put anyone off backing her each way.
3:20
Love Billy Boy (Franny Norton)
He’s really come back fighting this season and deserves to get his head back in front after some very good efforts in defeat. The handicapper has got him right where he wants but he should still be competitive, although doesn’t have the best of draws.
BATH
2:20
Fregola (Alec Voikhansky)
She’s a nice filly who has always shown plenty at home and is learning all the time. This looks quite a competitive race, and she’ll be more at home in Handicaps, but her work has been good, and the fast ground will suit.
