There were a few runners on Saturday spread across four tracks and TABARRAK came to the fore in the Listed Pertemps Spring Trophy Stakes under Jim Crowley at Haydock. Conditions were ideal and under a confident ride he won with a bit in hand. ‘He is a tough horse and when everything lines up for him he is very difficult to beat. He won well there and I will now have to look at options going forward. He is better off in Listed and group 3’s where he seems to be able to dominate. He is a great horse to have in the yard and I see us having a good year with him.’
Friday threw up another good winner when FLYING NORTH controlled events from the front under Hollie Doyle. ‘I was very impressed with the ride she was given and she travelled beautifully out in front. She has a lovely long stride and really appreciates the better ground. She may go up a little after that but I am very happy she could get the job done and that means she has won as a two, three and four year old.’
Today’s action comes from Windsor where the highly rated OH THIS IS US and KHAFOO SHEMEMI take their chances in the mile Listed event. The pair have come back from a winter in Dubai where Oh This Is Us managed to bag a first win in the gulf for Richard. ‘He is a very tough and ran nicely both times out there. He has been back a while and I have freshened him up for today. The ground should be ideal and he has the perfect draw and so I can see him running a big race. Khafoo Shememi hated the ground last time and should be much better suited today as well. He has a little bit to find but still deserves his place in the line-up.’
Other runners include first time out two year old DANCING SPEED. ‘He has shown plenty of speed on the gallops and should run a nice race on debut. He will improve for the run whatever happens.’
