Haatem at home in the sunshine
NEWMARKET – THURSDAY
1:50
Dapper Valley (Pat Dobbs)
His profile is very similar to Love Billy Boy; they were both good two-year-olds and have developed nicely during the off season. A bit of cut in the ground suits him best, and this is his trip, so I’m optimistic of a big run.
Love Billy Boy (Sean Levey)
He was a smart two-year-old and ran some great races, along with a few bad ones, but when he’s good, he’s good and he seems to have strengthened a lot over the winter. This is a competitive race, but his work has been very satisfactory and I’m hopeful we can have plenty of fun with him this season.
2:25
Time To Rule (Sam Hitchcott)
He’s by Time Test, out of a Galileo mare, from the family of Kingmambo, so he’s certainly bred to be winning races, but I’m not sure he’s sharp enough to win first time out and I expect him to come on for the experience.
3:00
Shouldvebeenaring (Sean Levey)
He’s been an absolute superstar for us so far and is probably one of the most consistent horses in training. His form is very strong, and we took him to Wolverhampton to blow away the cobwebs. He’ll strip much fitter here and I think six furlongs suits him best.
3:35
Haatem (Sean Levey)
It’s always been the plan to have a crack at the Guineas and we’ll know more if he turns out to be a genuine contender after this. His two-year-old form is very strong and, on homework, he seems to have trained on. The step up in trip is an unknown, but I think he’ll get it, if he doesn’t, we can always drop back.
4:10
Lyrasia (Sean Levey) and Yellow Lemons (Pat Dobbs) both make their three-year-old debuts in the same Fillies’ Maiden having started off together at Lingfield in October. They have each grown up physically and mentally over the winter and I’m expecting them to improve, but Handicapping is most likely to be their game.
5:20
Security Code (Hollie Doyle)
He’s been blighted with problems which means he’s only having the fourth run of his life at the age of five, but he was a winner for John Gosden and shows up nicely in his work. This looks a good starting point, and he’ll probably get further in time, but we’ll know a lot more about him after this. He could be pretty good.
