As most of you will know, I am a @unibetracing ambassdor and I will be writing daily blogs during the York Ebor Festival. Below are my thoughts on the horses I have heading to post on the final day, plus my other Saturday runners
York
2:25
Sergio Leone (Ben Curtis)
We probably ran him a bit too quickly after his excellent run at Goodwood, so we’ve freshened him up at home and done very little with him since. To be honest I think he’s been crying out for this trip and he’ll love the ground. He has a lot of ability and I can easily see him in the money.
3:00
Tabarrak (Jim Crowley)
This is his trip and he’s had a little break since running well at Newbury behind Sir Dancealot, who has won since, so the form has a strong look to it. He likes fast ground and has been in great form at home. I expect a bold show.
4:15
Well Done Fox (Jim Crowley)
He’s a smart horse who has a lot of natural speed. Things didn’t pan out for him at Goodwood last time, but he’ll like this track and we’ve done very little with him at home. It’s a decent race but he has every chance of going close on his best form.
Newmarket
1:40
Riviera Nights (James Doyle)
He ran a little bit green on debut at Leicester but still stayed on well once the penny dropped. He’ll strip much fitter mentally and physically here and I expect a bold show.
2:15
Glory (Martin Dwyer)
He’s got his handicap mark now and has shown more than enough to suggest he will be winning races before long. This is a small field and he won’t be far away.
2:50
Bullingdon (James Doyle)
We’re going back down to 7f which is a trip he’s won over before and I thought he was a little unlucky at Windsor last time. He’s a very consistent animal and will run his race.
Rum Runner (Tom Queally)
He can be quite free going, so a decent pace will suit and he’s been dropped a couple of pounds in the weights, which is a big help, although still not enough! He is what he is and could finish in the frame.
4:05
All Out (Jimmy Quinn)
She’s the only filly in the race, so receives a bit of weight from her male counterparts and it would be nice to get some more Black Type with her. Good ground suits her and she arrives here a fresh horse having not ran since May. It’s a decent little contest but she could easily run a huge race on her best form.
4:35
Dotted Swiss (Thore Hammer Hansen)
She is probably a little better with some cut, but I thought she ran ok at Windsor last time and Thore takes a valuable 7lbs off her back. This isn’t a strong race and I think she should be up to winning it.
Goodwood
1:30
Pimlico Pleaser (Tom Marquand)
She needs to step up on her debut over course and distance, but that race was won by a smart horse (Natalie’s Joy) and this filly has plenty of speed. She’ll be much sharper this time and will run her race.
2:05
Oh This Is Us (Tom Marquand)
He’s in great form at present and I was delighted with his run in the Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury last time. It looks a decent renewal of this race but he’s more than capable and I see no reason why he shouldn’t be bang there. He’s done absolutely nothing at home apart from a few easy canters.
2:40
Aim Power (David Egan)
She won quite readily at Windsor last time after an encouraging debut at Goodwood. The step up to seven furlongs will be right up her street and her experience around this track will put her in good stead here. I like her a lot and she deserves the step up to this level.
Ajrar (Rossa Ryan)
A very smart filly who ran ok behind Main Edition at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago. Her work has been excellent, and this is a race we won last year with Billesdon Brook. She stays and will be finishing well.
Posted (Tom Marquand)
She’s posted to very good efforts so far (see what I did there?!) and her winning opportunity won’t be far away. Tom has ridden her plenty at home and on the track so knows her well. We all like her and she’ll run a huge race.
3:15
Medahim (Rossa Ryan)
He loves this track and is yet to finish out of the money around here. The Handicapper has done him no favours but I think he could be a few pounds better off on this track and seven furlongs is his optimum. It’s a very competitive race but he is in good form at home and will bounce off the ground.
Windsor
4:45
Second Page (Seamus Cronin)
He’s effectively running off a career low mark with Seamus’s 7lbs claim and that run at Salisbury will have blown the cobwebs away, so he’ll strip much fitter here. He stays this trip well and I think he has a massive chance.
5:15
Typhoon Ten (Tom Marquand)
He found five furlongs around Chester too sharp for him last time, so he’ll be happier back over 6f here. His work has been fine, and he arrives here in great shape. I wouldn’t put you off him.
5:45
Euginio (Pat Dobbs)
He’s up to a rating of 110, so we’re pretty much forced to run in these type of races as he’d end up carrying top weight in Handicaps but that’s not to say he won’t acquit himself well. I think the step up to this trip will see him in a good light and he’ll run his race again.
7:45
Maypole (Tom Marquand)
I really like this horse. He has a lovely attitude, just gets on with life and is very consistent. I was pleased with his effort at Chelmsford last time and it’s hard not to see him bang there at the finish. He’s only ever finished out of the first four once and I’ll be surprised if he isn’t up to troubling the judge back over this trip, which is his optimum.
