Qaysar
SUNDAY
SANDOWN
3:00 Handicap
Qaysar (Ryan Moore)
He’s a very consistent horse who goes on any ground and always runs his race. I thought he ran well behind a few of these in the Royal Hunt Cup last time and while there isn’t much room for manoeuvre off his current handicap mark, and stall 10 isn’t ideal, he’s in great form at home and I see no reason why he can’t run a big race.
5:10 Handicap
What An Angel (Thore Hammer Hansen)
He is very unlucky not to have won a race yet because he’s put up some excellent efforts in defeat, most notably on Thursday at Bath where he got nabbed on the line. This is obviously a quick turnaround but he’s tough horse and ‘The Hammer’s’ 5lbs claim will definitely aid his cause, as will the drop back down to 7f.
DONCASTER
1:40 Maiden
Chindit (Pat Dobbs)
He’s a very nice colt by Wootton Bassett who has done everything he’s been asked at home and this looks a good opportunity to get him going. Like many of ours he may need to run but nevertheless I expect a very bold show.
3:25 Fillies’ Handicap
Jamaheery (Dane O’Neill)
She was disappointing on her comeback in the Unibet Fillies’ Handicap at Kempton but may have needed it so I’m going to forgive it and hope she can put it behind her. This will be her second run after a wind operation and we’re going down in grade, so with a bit of luck she can run a much better race this time.
HAYDOCK
12:30 Fillies’ Handicap
Love Powerful (Sean Levey)
I think she found five furlongs at Windsor a bit too sharp last time so we’re going back up to six which should hopefully do the trick because she is in very good form at home and is a filly we’ve always thought a great deal of. I’d say she has a serious chance.
We’ll have plenty of runners throughout the week and hopefully some winners among them but I am looking forward to running a colt called Noonday Gun who is out of our Guineas winner Sky Lantern. He was with us last year but we’ve given him plenty of time so hopefully our patience will be rewarded. He’s got an entry at Pontefract on Tuesday and may take his chance.
