With a grand total of eight winners over the weekend the team are heading into September in good form. The highlight of the weekend’s action came from Goodwood where the improving BILLESDON BROOK took out the Group 3 Prestige Stakes for the Pall Mall Partners. ‘She keeps on improving with every run and I thought Sean gave her a lovely ride today. She travelled very nicely and put the race to bed in a matter of strides. I will speak to the owners but the possible plan now will be the May Hill at Doncaster.’
Friday’s action came from across the country and Richard managed to bag a four timer. The first of those came at Newmarket where VITAMIN the daughter of First Season Sire Camelot was having her second start. The Hussain Lootah owned filly was always to the fore and won in impressive style under Tom Marquand. ‘She has always been a lovely filly and we have taken plenty of time with her. She is finally coming to herself now and she will be a lovely three year old. I would say she wouldn’t have too many more runs this year.’
Over at Ffos Las MOVE OVER doubled his tally with a never say die ride to hold on at the line. ‘He is proving a tough horse and won nicely last time at Salisbury. He has done well to improve again and keep his head in front. I have no plans at present but we will see what’s available in a few weeks’ time.’
The third winner was back at Newmarket with WHIP NAE NAE getting his head in front. The colt by Dragon Pulse has been running well and deserved to win. ‘He is a horse we have always liked and he should have no trouble winning again. He needs to be produced late on but he does travel very well in his races.’
The final winner of the day came from Goodwood on Friday evening with BON SCOTTE making all on his first start at the races. ‘He has plenty of size and has taken time to get going. He has worked well the last twice and has shown us what he is made of. He will improve with the run under his belt and I think he will make a lovely three year old.’
Saturday’s Group 3 winner was boosted by another winner for Hussain Lootah in LAMYA winning the first at Windsor. ‘She came from the breeze up’s and has always been a filly we like. She will go on from here and have the chance of getting black type. She will improve again for the run and I am hopeful her year will be next year.’
Another double on Monday brought up the eight timer. CHATOYER was having his second start in handicaps and first start up over seven furlongs. ‘We have been trying to settle him down as he can be a bit free going. He managed to switch him off eventually and he stuck on to the line. This should bring him on mentally and hopefully he will come on again.’
The second winner saw a one-two in the Dorothy Mort Memorial race. REGIMENTED managed to hold on whilst stable mate was a neck down in second. ‘He ran into a couple of useful sorts at Windsor last time and has returned to the winners circle. He is a nice colt and he can go on from here.’
