Western, The Curragh
Two year old Western, owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, has travelled over to The Curragh to run in The Goffs Millions, one of the most valuable races in Europe. This race is solely for two-year-old horses purchased at the Goffs Orby yearling sale the previous year.
Previously this race had been split into divisions of sex and distance and we were lucky to have won the Sprint, Fillies, and Colts & Geldings races in previous years.
It was then re-introduced back in 2022 as one race over seven furlongs, a big valuable race for horses of all experience.
It has now been announced that The Goffs Million will be rebranded as the Goffs Two Million Series at this year’s up and coming Orby Yearling sale and will incorporate three races from next year.
Western was purchased at last years yearling sales for €100,000 and we are delighted to be training him. He’s had two promising runs this year and deserves his chance of bringing home some decent prize money. We will be carrying second colours (hooped sleeves) as Highclere will be represented by two horses in this race.
Pat Dobbs rode him in his last race and has worked him at home. He will be flying over to take the ride.
