System wins the Empress Stakes under Pat Dobbs at Newmarket
YORK WEDNESDAY
3:00 G2 Sprint
Happy Romance
Unfortunately, she was lame this morning so is a non-runner. It’s a massive disappointment for all of us because she had so much in her favour but it’s nothing serious and we’ll look for something in the next few weeks.
4:10 Handicap
System (Sean Levey)
She was probably a little ring rusty at Newmarket on her return but that will have sharpened her up and the step up to seven should help as well. It’s a competitive Handicap but she likes fast ground and could be well treated off 88.
5:15 Novice Stakes
Starmas (Sean Levey)
She’s a nice filly by Mehmas with a lovely attitude and has a very bright future. Whether she’s quite sharp enough to win first time out, I’m not entirely sure, but everything she’s done has been good and hopefully she can run a nice race.
YORK THURSDAY
2:25 G2 Middleton Stakes
Aristia (Sean Levey)
Ignore her run in France last year because she absolutely hated the ground but was very good over course and distance on Good to Firm in a Listed race before that. She may be the lowest rated in the field but on her day she’s very good and has plenty in her favour.
4:45 Maiden
Oh Sweet Tabu (Sean Levey)
She’s a well-bred daughter of Zoustar who has been pleasing us all in her work. There are a few nice types in here and we’ve had her entered all over the place this week but our filly has ability, is ready to go, and is more than capable of making her presence felt.
We’ve got a few runners down at Salisbury as well and I’d be pretty hopeful that She’s A Mirage in the 1:30 can improve significantly on her first run at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago. She’s better than that and she should run a much better race with that under her belt.
