With things quieting down on the runner’s front it was nice to get a winner on Friday night at Chelmsford. The son of Mayson owned by Mr John Spence had been placed on a few occasions and managed to get his head in front under a fine ride from Tom Marquand. ZALSHAH was away well and settled in behind the leading pair. He travelled well into the race and moved easily into contention in the straight before putting the race to bed. ‘He has been unlucky a couple of times and so I was glad he could finally win. He is capable of winning more races and I hope this gives him the confidence to do so.’
Another good effort on the evening was GHEPARDO who ran a good second with a penalty in the Novice Event. She was upsides the leader throughout and stuck on gamely to the line. ‘The penalty has caught her out and she may have run into a useful horse in the end.’
With nothing today on the runners list we look forward to the weekend where we have DANEHILL KODIAC aimed at the Hong Kong Vase. He left the yard on Friday evening and has settled in well to life over there.
